Welcome to Lubbock!
Known locally for its wineries, western culture and Texas hospitality, the city of Lubbock is located in the heart of the Texas Panhandle. Some of the attractions in Lubbock include Prairie Dog Town, a large, natural colony of prairie dogs in MacKenzie Park, and the Maize at Altdo Farms, a cornfield maze that challenges visitors to escape without disturbing the corn rows. The Depot Entertainment District is the place in Lubbock for nightlife, with live music, bars and a micro-brewery available. Lubbock was also home to famous rock and roll icon, Buddy Holly, and there are several attractions based on his musical legacy including the Buddy Holly Center and a statue that stands in front of the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. A celebrated post-secondary institution, Texas Tech University hosts the Lubbock Lake Landmark, an architectural dig that exhibits artifacts and offers tours during the summer months, as well as numerous college athletic events during the school year.
